Welcome to the Blue Mountains Conservation Society. This voluntary group of about one thousand members is helping to conserve the World Heritage Blue Mountains region in eastern Australia. We have a membership now of over one thousand members which has been growing at 20% per annum - thanks to the great efforts by our Membership Secretary Ilan Salbe Ph 4759 2372. The Annual General Meeting of the Society was held on Friday 28th March, 2008 at the Conservation Hut, Wentworth Falls. Most, but not all positions on the Management Committee were filled at this meeting, but the Committee can always use help in fulfilling its duties and you are encouraged to get actively involved. This is a very effective and worth-while organisation which is primarily concerned with environmental issues in the Blue Mountains and surrounds. It relies totally upon voluntary effort. ACTION 1: The walk-in at the Southern Coalfields to the Waratah Rivulet, a tributary to the Sydney drinking water supply which has been severely damaged by longwall coal mining, has been postponed due to the rivulet flooding. However, it is hoped that this will still take place at a date to be fixed.
